Junior engineer shot in fight over song in Bihar's Bhojpur district

A 23-year-old junior railway engineer posted at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay station was shot dead after a brawl while playing popular songs in an orchestra program organized at a wedding reception in Bhojpur district on Monday evening.  The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Singh.

Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar told reporters on Tuesday, "Baraat came to the house of one Ajay Singh in Pakri village under Krishnagarh police station from Majhauan village under Ara town police station area on Monday evening.

An orchestral program was organized on the occasion. Local villagers and 'baraati' got into a fight during the programme. In the chaos, someone shot at Abhishek, who died on the spot. The police have identified the shooter and his other accomplices. A special police team has been constituted to nab the culprits."

To avoid such incidents, the Bhojpur SP has issued an order to all SHOs in the district to obtain written assurances from the hosts of the wedding party or other parties that they will not allow any celebratory firing of licensed or unlicensed weapons during the ceremony. "The order has been issued after a number of such incidents have occurred in the recent past, causing death or injury," the SP said.

Abhishek had returned from his place two days ago to attend the 'baraat'. According to sources, he was supposed to get married in May.
